Constructed in 1810, it is the oldest church building in Ohio that is still used as a church. The church is nicknamed the "Church of the Governors", as Ohio's second governor, Thomas Kirker, helped organize the congregation, and Thomas Metcalfe, a mason who later became Governor of Kentucky, helped construct the church's walls.〔(Official Church Website )〕 The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.
